STRAIGHT EGYPTIAN ARABIAN HORSE ORIGINS

Legend tells about prophet Mohammed which had a very beloved mares herd. One day he decided to subject them to a severe test to verify their obedience and their bravery.
He left them several days without water and when he released them, while all the mares started running towards the nearest river to drink, the prophet calls them and only five, regardless of thirst, obeyed the master and turning back to him. This five mares are the ancients of all the Arabian horses breeds.

The prophet Mohammed makes the breeding of the pure “Asil” a religious dogma. Indeed also the Koran says: “if a man can’t keep his religious obligations, he can breed an “Asil” horse for the sake of Allah and he will have his sins forgiven. Who will have breed an Asil horse for the holy war, will be safe from hell’s fire in the day of resurrection”.
There is anyone horse race with so magic ambience then the Arabian one.

Letting behind the legends, poems and stories which tells about this special animals; the straight Egyptian Arabian horse or Asil descends directly from the horses bred by the nomad Bedouin clans in the Arabic peninsula.
Each clan owned extremely selected specimen that keeps with jealousy: the horse, indeed, was really important for their life, helping Bedouins for their raids and wars against the others clans. In fact the Bedouin’s life depended on rapidity, endurance and bravery of the mares, which were the only one used for battles, because the stallions were too unreliable.

The physical characteristics of these horses derive from beliefs and religious traditions, the forehead should be wide and prominent, the base of the neck with the head highly arched, an high tail carriage and a graceful movement. All this characteristics should be together with amoderate and cold temper, brave and extremely intelligent to be easily trained.
Undoubtedly the Arabian horse race is very ancient dating to hundreds years ago, first written traces about their breeding came from the first half of the XIX century when some examples were carried to Europe and started the actual breeding program, now widespread in all Occidental world.

The Straight Egyptian Arabian horses are only 4% of all the Arabian horses, this means that they descend from a small number of mares.
The most part of these mares are separated in blood lineage that came from one or more of the five ancient mares.
